SYNOPSIS: A relationship comes to an end between Wai, and his girlfriend, Faith, who is in Taiwan. Wai travels from Singapore to Taiwan to meet Faith for one last time. It is a last journey of past memories, as he finds shadows of their love and time spent together. Filmmaker Leonard Lai engages the viewer in this simple story of love lost with carefully crafted images that embody the musical structure of an old love song. Awards and festivals: Director’s bio: Leonard Lai started his career in the film industry after taking a 16mm film production short course. His short film “Mr Charles de Gualle” won the Merit Prize at the Asia Regional Panasonic Digital Filmmaker's Competition in 2004. In 2006, he made his debut feature film, "The High Cost of Living" under the Singapore Film Commission's Incubator Programme. The film traveled the festival circuit and received the Best Film award at the 9th International Panorama of Independent Filmmakers in Greece. In 2009, he wrote and directed "Love Lost" which received the Special Award at the Timishort Film Festival in Romania. It is a first of a planned trilogy of short films exploring different stages of love. |
